Phone number not associated with my phone

I changed carriers and now I have a message that says "This number is associated with you Apple ID but is not associated with this iPhone. You can keep using the humber for iMessages and FaceTime until it expires." What do I do?

We understand that you've changed your telephone number and iMessage and FaceTime still see your previous telephone number.


You can change your Apple ID password to update the telephone number associated with iMessage and FaceTime. This resource will guide you through the process: Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime - Apple Support

"Turn your phone number on or off for your iPad or iPod touch

After you set up your phone number, you can turn it on or off for Messages and FaceTime on your iPad or iPod touch.

  1. For Messages, go to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is on. If asked, sign in with the Apple ID you're using with Messages and FaceTime on your iPhone. Then tap Send & Receive.
  2. For FaceTime, go to Settings > FaceTime. If asked, sign in with the Apple ID that you're using with Messages and FaceTime on your iPhone.
  3. Turn your phone number on or off:
