Files disappearing when clicking on them and not appearing in search

These are two issues but the first is perhaps the strangest.

I have recently upgraded to an M1 macbook pro from my 2015 macbook pro. I transferred all my files over and everything seemed fine, but some wacky stuff is happening with finder search. I searched a term in the bar and some images with the words I searched appeared. But when I clicked on the images to open them, they then disappeared from the search result and I can't find them anywhere now. I reentered the search term and no luck.

The other issue is files I know the exact name of are not showing when I search their file name. There was one that was 'x password', and it showed up when I typed 'x passwor' but not when I searched 'x password'. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here?
