Confirm MagSafe charger is authentic

The serial number on the charger doesn’t appear on the mobile to confirm authenticity.

New MagSafe Charger Serial Number NOT recognized on apple.com Today, I purchased a MagSafe Charger, Model A2140. As I do with all Apple products, I verify the serial number online, especially to ensure my warranty dates are registered to my Apple ID. When I enter the charger's serial number online with apple, it is reported as an invalid number. The charger was purchased from a very reputable brick and mortar retailer and I have verified its firmware through the 'General' - 'About' areas of my iPhone's Settings. My questions: Does Apple NOT allow MagSafe chargers to be registered to your Apple ID like other products? For the purposes of warranty coverage, how would Apple verify when I purchased this product if I do not somehow register its serial number? Any insight would be appreciated.

Magsafe charger My MagSafe charger isn’t charging anymore and John Lewis where I purchased it and which is still under guarantee need the serial number otherwise they can’t arrange a repair. I can’t see it any where on the product and I don’t have the original packaging would anyone have any ideas where I can find it. Many thanks

If you purchased this MagSafe charger directly from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller, it should be an original product. As such, you can either visit your local Apple Store to have them examine it to see if it may be faulty.

However, if you got this charger from another 3rd-party source, it could be a fake.
