Notes Is Opening On The Same Note Every Time (Despite Implementing Apple’s Suggested Fixes)

As many Apple (iPhone/iPad) users have reported, the Note app seems to be ‘locked’ onto a particular note; I am seeing the same note every time I open the Notes app, even when I had a note open I was previously working on and hadn’t pressed “done” to save it yet.

I have tried Apples suggested fixes, including, opening a random old note with that note displayed, locking my iPad (or phone), going to a different note and editing it or create a new note, and closing the Notes app. It worked once for a moment, but just brought up a different note over and over, and then brought up the same note again soon afterwards.

Can this be fixed such that, when opening the app, I will see the last note I was working on (like it did before this started happening? Or at least the list of notes in my ‘Notes’ folder by default?

Thank you in advanced.

Swipe up from bottom of phone to close notes, but don’t swipe up on notes to actually close it.

Touch the screen anywhere so that you are on Home Screen.

Tap notes and open it.

Swipe up from bottom and this time actually close notes.

Open notes and it will be on the same note that you closed it on.

This is the only way I have found to make notes open on same one it was closed on. Well, that’s not true. It also will open on same note if another app is open, but that depends on when apps were opened, how many times you do it because it changes how it works each time, but only sometimes. Yeah, that messed up statement sums up Apple.

It’s completely ridiculous and insane that some dude in Indiana figures this out since Apple has become completely horrible. It’s shocking what I’ve figured out simply because I had no choice.

Presumably you have already tried a forced-restart of your iPad?

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

A forced-restart will usually clear an isolated software issue. If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings
