My Mail, Calendar, Photos sync between my Mac Mini, my iPhone 13 Pro & my iPad, but my Contacts never do, and sometimes my Messages don't know they've been read on another device. I've tried the settings and they all say it should be syncing. Any thoughts on what might be the issue?

Toggle the contacts off in iCloud...
>System Settings>AppleID>iCloud>Contacts
and back on again and compare your results.
If no resolve sign out of iCloud on the problem device and sign back in again to jump start the sync

I may also have a few suggestions. However first is it just the Mac that’s not communicating between your iPhone and iPad? And also, is it JUST Contacts and Messages? Cheers.
Yes, it’s mainly Contacts that’s not syncing!
Not all apps are syncing between devices
