Apple Watch not tracking sleep

Okay, I’m starting to get frustrated. I just got an Apple Watch - series 8 - primarily for fitness and sleep tracking. The first night, it worked as expected and I was able to view my data in the morning. Since then, it has not tracked any sleep - no matter what I do. I have charging reminders on, but usually charge before bed and then put the watch back on and unlock it before going to sleep.

Steps I’ve taken:

1) set up sleep schedule with automatic sleep focus for both watch and phone

2) set my watch to track sleep in setting and made it the primary data source for sleep in health

3) made sure my watch is snugly fit - other features like heart rate, oxygen, and temp are working just fine

4) manually put the watch (and my phone) in sleep mode

5) factory reset the watch and re-paired it to my phone

I do have audible playing on my phone on a sleep timer while I go to sleep, but I can’t imagine this having an effect on the watch’s sleep tracking since I also had this happening the one night it did actually track my sleep.

Any ideas or suggestions? I’m about at the end of my patience with this thing 😅

Thanks in advance!
