Consistently Inaccurate Sleep Data (iOS 17, Series 3 Watch)

Like the title says.. I cannot get my Apple Watch to track my sleep correctly no matter what I do and am at my wits end. I’m running iOS 17.2.1 on the 14 Pro Max and using a Series 3 Apple Watch.

It is showing that I sleep but not even close to the amount of actual hours slept. Even if I turn Sleep Focus on (on my iphone) at bedtime and off when I wake up, it still doesn’t log the correct amount of hours.

Troubleshooting things I have already tried:

  • Updated software on both the phone and watch
  • Restarted both devices
  • Verified that sleep tracking was set up correctly
  • Adjusted the watch strap to make sure it isn’t too loose
  • Un-paired and re-paired the watch
  • Tried 2 different third party sleep tracking apps with the same issue

This was never a problem until fairly recently. I believe that changes in my health and medication may be at least part of this issue (my heart rate stays elevated and dips very little during sleep) but I would think that the hours would still be correctly tracked from turning Sleep Focus on overnight each night. This has been a consistent problem for 2 weeks so it’s not a one off thing.

I have the same issue. Mine worked fine for a year, then sometime after iOS 17 update the sleep tracking went out the window.
