Strange Special Characters Inserted When Typing on MacOS and Checking on Windows OS

I'm experiencing a peculiar issue where strange special characters are inserted into my text when I type on MacOS and then check on Windows OS.

This phenomenon seems to occur when I compose blog posts or documents in Notion, and is most noticeable when I review these on a Windows system.

These special characters primarily appear at the beginning of sentences, though occasionally they show up in the middle as well.

When I copy and paste these odd characters, they often turn into a single, different character.

My guess is that some character gets saved when I'm typing or erasing, and then gets inserted at the beginning of the next paragraph I type.

The problem is that I'm at a loss as to how to articulate this issue accurately, let alone solve it. 😭

Thank you for reading.
