When I want to start a new message to a person I had been texting it always shows the entire previous exchanges. I want a totally new message to be send

In order to delete a message thread, open the Message app and you will see a list of your Messages to various contacts. Swipe to the left on the desired thread and choose the trash can to delete it.

Hi Wjralr,
You can only have 1 instance of a conversation with someone at a time in the Messages app. This means you'll need to delete the thread containing your older conversation prior to starting a new one. You can learn how to delete threads in the Use Messages on your iPhone or iPad resource you're posting from.

Thanks Lee, but the link you provided doesn’t mention how to delete a thread. Is there other verbiage that I should be looking for?
