How to get refund if Apple Pay charged me twice?

I sent money via Apple Cash, and the transaction for the exact same amount posted twice on my checking account from my bank. I don’t believe this is on the Apple side considering my wallet only shows 1 transaction. I checked in with the recipient and they mention to have only received 1 transfer. Called Chase and they mention I can’t dispute it until it posts.

Apple Pay does not have a balance, so money is not deducted from there. Apple Pay does facilitate the transaction between your linked card and the merchant.

What information are you seeing that makes you think that money was deducted from 2 places?

Were you sending funds person to person or purchasing something? If you’ve been charged twice for a purchase that’s a merchant issue. What payment method was used, Apple Cash, or a credit or debit card?

This has happened to me numerous times. Usually they return the funds after I dispute it but this last one they have not and I can’t even get ahold of anyone to talk to. After this problem is fixed I won’t be using Apple Pay anymore

My husband sent his friend money through apple pay. His friend received the one payment, but our bank account was charged for 2 transactions of equal amounts. When he looked at his transaction history, one was charged from his debit card on file and one was charged from his virtual card set to apple pay.

Was this through Apple Cash or another service like Venmo or Cash App?

I got something on TikTok shop. It took the money from my Apple Pay and also from my card linked to my Apple Pay. So I paid twice. Any idea how to get my money back from 1 of those charges?

File a dispute with the merchant and they can do a reversal or a refund. The other possibility is filing a dispute with the bank that issued the debit or credit card used to fund the transaction. It’s not advised to do both, just one or the other. Disputing with both can result in a double refund and bank may consider it fraud.
