How can I turn off Screentime requests in iMessages?
This is a possible solution to a question that was asked earlier. I can't reply to the tread anymore, so I am posting a new question.
I had the problem that after updating to the newest software on my MacBook Pro, Screentime requests from my son on my Apple watch would come in, but my son would not get the approval on his devices. On my laptop I would get alerts, and they would work, but they disappeared if I did not react within a few seconds (even though alerts are not supposed to disappear until you dismiss them). On my laptop the requests would also come in as iMessages, hundreds of them. Either they would spin, or after a while show the option to go to system settings, but it would not work either. Sometimes my messages app would crash. The only device I could approve the requests from without a problem was my phone, from the messages app (showing hundreds of requests that need to be deleted manually if you don't want them clogging the messages threads).
After talking to 3 people at Apple, I talked to a supervisor for 2 hours, and we where not able to solve the problem. She promised to call me back a few days later, which she did. By that time, I had figured out that requests from my other son come in the old fashioned way, even after updating his phone. So the supervisor had a fix. In the settings app on my son's devices, we went to messages, then Send&Receive, and checked the phone number only, not the Apple id email address. If the Apple id email address is checked, the Screentime requests come in as iMessages. It solved all my problems.
