Hi alla254,

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. The first thing you'll want to verify is that your iPhone is running the latest software available as this may help to address the issue you're facing. You can verify this in Settings > General > Software Update. Are you using Maps or a third-party navigation app?

Thanks.

I have gotten an update from the Acura side which seems to mirror the BMW issues. What I do not know is if Apple Carplay/Android Auto are the culprits or BMW/Acura. See below when I summarize my last question.

We use Verizon. Between my wife & I we have both an Android (Samsung S23) and the 15 Pro Max.

I spent an hour on the phone with the Acura tech people after my local dealer was trying to upsell me to an Integra Type S confirming what I was observing. Namely,:

HUD with Apple Carplay WILL NOT work with Google Maps (but Google Maps will work on the touch screen monitor with Apple Car Play); conversely, HUD with Android Auto WILL NOT work with Apple Maps (but Apple Maps will work on the touch screen monitor with Android Auto).

Unlike, with the Acura MDX line, there is no option for the Acura Integra line to upgrade to the proprietary Acura GPS navigation system (similar to BMW's). I asked the Acura tech support if I could buy an MDX GPS Navigation model and install it on either the Integra or the Type S and the answer was no

It is inconceivable, to use any Brand's HUD navigation features, that you might be forced to change your phone and in the case of the Integra/Type S lines not have the option up upgrading to the Acura inhouse navigation system.

I told them that this was a deal killer for me until they resolved it.

I did not get an answer of whether the culprit was Apple & Android for not making HUD provisions for the competing product OR Acura not paying/demanding that Apple/Android deploy HUD capability for competing service. If anyone knows, please let me know so I can pressure the right groups.

It seems in checking the BMW boards there are identical issues with with Apple Carplay and Android Auto for their models for which I have the same question. Namely,:

are the culprits Apple & Android for not making HUD provisions for the competing product OR BMW not paying/demanding that Apple/Android deploy HUD capability for competing service?

Have you checked with BMW or checked BMW support forums for help with this? Seems to matter if you have ID7 or ID8 and which maps app you are trying to use for some ID7’s based on a quick web search. Unless you’re saying it once worked with whatever map you are using (the OEM systems, Apple Maps, Waze, etc) and now doesn’t

Yes, of course.

Both BMW & Acura.

It is left unanswered which leads me to believe that Apply has punted on this issue.

This is not an BMW or Acura question, but rather an Apple Carplay question as this problem extends across car brands.

Before I ditch the iPhone 15, all I want to know is if Apple has fixed this and/or is there any intention of Apple fixing this or is this a purposed bug to try to force people to use Apple's inferior Maps product?

Simple question. The straight answer will determine the lifetime of this 15 Pro Max in my household.

Thanks.
