Purchased iPad to replace an old iPad. I assigned a different Apple ID from the old iPad and other device I have. The new iPad is now requesting the iPad password. Why

Presumably you refer to the iPad Passcode.


When attempting to use a different AppleID, the original device Passcode will be required to access/reset existing end-to-end encryption - the encryption keys being stored within the Keychain that is itself protected by the device Passcode.
