I went to Apple to see what they can do about my camera not working and they tested it and said something was wrong with the hardware. The camera is not working. The antenna is not working nothing I did cause it but it was just a hardware issue and it would cost me over $600 to fix it or actually $549 plus tax so I went to AT&T AT&T told me that I can use my insurance but my deductible was $275. I waited a couple days went to a different AT&T store and this young guy literally does a hard reset on my phone and Walla my cameras working , so try a hard reset if you don’t know what that is, it’s gonna be the volume up volume down just one time in that order and then hold the power button down until the Apple symbol pops up. That’s it!

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. Test the camera again by taking a photo. If your device has a front and rear camera, check if one or both aren't working.
If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't ...
my rear facing camera would lock up but the front face(selfie) camera would work. Rebooted the phone and it would work fine. Then with the latest software I got the unknown camera error and my .5 zoom was not functional. I did the hard boot as suggested and I no longer get the unknown error and my .5 zoom works again.
I had the same problem. Just did a hard reset. Volume up - volume down - hold power button until screen goes black. The phone will restart. Mine is working perfectly again.
Hello~ “Popping” your iPhone in the fridge for an hour is not a good idea at all and will potentially only cause more issues in the future. The following link should be used…

Hello~ We are not Apple but your fellow forum members. More than likely you need to take your iPhone (I presume) in and have it checked out. Click on below…

Omfg! I’ve been having the exact same issue. Back camera stopped working out of nowhere. I tried a hard reset, update, deleted pics, everything. Apple support said it would be $655 to send my phone in for 3-5 days to get the “hardware issue” fixed. I put my phone in the fridge for 45 minutes and now my back camera works 😭
this happened to me and I tried everything. Resetting settings, hard reboots nothing. The back camera would not work, the front camera after some delay. Thankfully Face ID worked as normal
anyway. I turned the phone off and popped in the fridge for an hour. Turned it on and great it’s working.
Try the frig trick! It worked for me last night. Turn the phone off, stick it in the frig for 1-2 hours. And wallah!
The hard reset didn’t work for me - but this did.
(Also to note: my camera stopped working when it was very hot out)
If popping the phone in the frig is potentially damaging, then would it not also be dangerous to take it in any cooler conditions for longer than an hour? That would simulate the refrigerator climate, and I haven’t seen any warnings from Apple against using it in cooler weather.
(also for the record, the frig trick worked for me when no other options did)
I have had this issue as well, and now still continue to. It’s not only me, my work friend had the same phone and she had to get it replaced.
I factory reset my phone which seemed to work for a while, except the 0.5 which is then now didn’t recognise since the new update. Meaning it’s apples fault, but we have to pay for a new phone or to get it fixed when it’s their own devices.
Try turning it off and putting it in the frig for an hour or two. This worked for me and hard reset did not.
THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME TOO!!!!!! apple support said it is probably a hardware issue. i do not have the funds to replace or repair my phone :( so so frustrating
