How to fix OnVue on Mac

OnVue downloads and starts to open, but nothing happens. The spinning beachball of death just continues to spin. I can’t select any options, exit or force quit the program. To get it to stop I just have to shut down my computer. What is wrong?

Finally found the fix for this... you need to enable Open using Rosetta.

Not being an Apple product, I suggest you contact the developer and ask them.

Keep in mine, it the developer's responsibility to make their product work with Apple OS; not the other way around. So if they tell you it's an Apple problem, you know better.

This indicates it's a Microsoft app: https://home.pearsonvue.com/Clients/Microsoft/Online-proctored.aspx

I encountered this issue the past couple of days on my Mac. After following some recommendations, most of which didn’t work, I found what worked for me.

  • I created a new user and skipped all the configurations/settings
  • I set Microsoft Edge as my default browser
  • I disabled Stage Manager
  • From the Input Monitoring system systems, I allowed onVue (not sure if this helped)

I was now able to run the simulations and actual exam without issues

Hoping this will help someone.

Running a MacBook Pro on macOS Sonoma 14.3.1.

I had the same issues as the OP and many others when testing my system with OnVue.

Close any additional desktops you have running before you simulate your test. This and toggle off your Stage Manager.

Sign out of apple/FaceTime and any other apps you might get interrupted with.

I am hoping no issues on test day... but this worked for now!

I tried all of this stuff, made all the changes, and nothing worked.

The simplest solution is to create a new user on a Mac, log in using that user, Install Chrome, and everything works well.

Note: I had the open using Rosetta option enabled from main user, which might be helpful as well.

Thanks

DId you check the download folder?

Do you have any security blocks on the browser preferences?

I would submit an inquiry directly to to the OnVue support team:

Intriguingly, Apple Certification used Pearson Learning, so it does run on Macs. So unless they changed something since 2018, I can only imagine there might be a browser extension or security preference to blame.

Thanks, this managed to get the system test up and running for me.. so here's hoping that I'm all Ok for exam day.

It's hard to say which of these were my issue because a lot of these settings also apply to me (previously using stage manager, use universal control and also use Logitech options+)
