How to fix OnVue on Mac

OnVue downloads and starts to open, but nothing happens. The spinning beachball of death just continues to spin. I can’t select any options, exit or force quit the program. To get it to stop I just have to shut down my computer. What is wrong?

Experienced the same thing - very very painful experience! Was just watching the pinwheel spin forever, force shutdown my laptop, and be put at the end of the queues again... It took around 2 hours when I finally decided to reschedule the exam. Pearson customer support wasn't helpful enough, though they said they will try to contact me within 48 to 72 hours.

I managed to fixed it! by fumbling with my laptop and with the help of google. I had no idea what I did that made it work, but here are a list of every I did in case anyone found themself in the same desperate situation as I was in:

  • Make chrome browser the default browser (I was using Arc as default)
  • Allow cookies & allow pop-ups in your chrome browser settings
  • followed the recommendation from this link: OnVue fails launch simulation test - part… - Apple Community
  • turn off Stage Manager in the settings: go to Desktop & Dock > Stage Manager (toggle to off)
  • turn off universal control: go to Display > Universal Control > disconnect all devices. On the Display page, scoll down to the bottom to click the "Advanced..." button, then toggle off the "Allow your pointer and keyboard to move between any nearby Mac or iPad"
  • Move the OnVue app into the 'applications' folder (as opposed to the program being in your Downloads folder)
  • Make sure OnVue has permission for 'Input Monitoring': go to Privacy & Security > Input Monitoring, then click the + sign and add on OnVue app
  • On Privacy & Security > Input Monitoring I also toggle off permissions for everything else that wasn't OnVue, like the Logitech options+.

Hope this helps somebody out there...

I encountered this issue the past couple of days on my Mac. After following some recommendations, most of which didn’t work, I found what worked for me.

  • I created a new user and skipped all the configurations/settings
  • I set Microsoft Edge as my default browser
  • I disabled Stage Manager
  • From the Input Monitoring system systems, I allowed onVue (not sure if this helped)

I was now able to run the simulations and actual exam without issues

I was able to get it to work by using hardline - no other way to get past the issues with speed and video, etc. Pearson Vue requires ALL the internet speed and attention. So if you want it to work, HARDLINE, then you can keep your firewall on. I did make sure PV was listed under accessibility, mic, camera, and input monitoring and PV was the only thing on in each of those areas. Finally, I cleared the cache, turned off all extensions, and allowed pop-ups. This took a couple hours to get sorted and reboot each time. sigh

@alagurl87

Aside from downloading OnVUE, you will also need to download: Pearson Lockdown Browser OEM onto your Mac.

I am using a MacBook Air (M3) and the settings test would just spin for 15+mins until I had this downloaded.

Once Pearson Lockdown Browser was downloaded, the settings test completed and I was able to complete the Simulation Test! :) Hope this helps! <3

I followed all the steps except I kept safari changed its settings to disable content blockers and allow popups. Still didn't work. So I went to general, airdrop and handoff, turned off handoff and airplay. Also went to displays, advanced, turned off allow pointer and keyboard to move between nearby Mac or iPad. And it finally worked after days of frustration!

Hello,

I'm using a MacBook Air with macOS Sonoma, and after trying all recommended configurations without success, the Onvue App doesn't complete System Check Requirements. However, after some days of searching for an answer, I found the solution in a Microsoft forum, and finally, it worked on the first try.

The solution was to create a new User without any additional configuration and run the Onvue App using this new account.

I hope this will help somebody.

My problem is that the simulation test runs so slow and the pointer keeps spining. I try everything you said but it dosen't work for me until I click the link you've shared. Then I run the command in my terminal: rm -rf ~/.BrowserLock/

It resolves my problem and the simulation test runs smoothly. But the application still have problem of hiding the dock when it enters to the test. Then I go to the setting and hide it.

PS: If somebody has network issue, it's probably the access key has expired. Go to the website and get a new one.

So, I did everything, even called the phone number (888) 435-2098 , they will put you through the loops, but just bare with it. Give them every single detail of your application and they'll give you a case # and tell you to restart and try again in an hour. In the mean time I followed @startivityz advice and downloaded chrome. edited all the settings, privacy & security, third-party cookies, allow third-party cookies, add in sites allowed to use third party cookies, and added the weblink with the access code and download. Then I don't know how I went the same page again, but it gives a new code and it worked. They will also test your wifi signal and needs to download at least 6 Mbps. no mobile (phone) hotspots allowed, but google fi does work.
