Macbook won't play some movies

I have 15 shared movies but 4 of them won't play on my MacBook. I've downloaded them a few times and rebooted but they won't play. I get a real quick screen as if they will start playing. They all work on our iPads and iphones

It's been almost 1 year now and I have 5 movies that won't play on my MacBook. I've spent a lot of time with apple support to no avail. The last time was March 2024 with 2 specialists and no answer. The last person that tried to figure this issue out said he would call back the next day but never did. Ive used the link to leave a couple voice/texts and still have not gotten a reply.

I guess if they can't figure out an issue I guess they just leave you hanging.

Hello 75Westy,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities!

Are the movies that you're having trouble with movies that were purchased in iTunes or the TV app? If not, are they locally stored movies from other sources?

If they are locally stored from other sources, the steps in here may be able to help: If a media file doesn't open or play on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad - Apple Support

Cheers!

Thanks for the additional information 75Westy.

You mentioned already talking with Apple Support. If those 4 items still aren't working, you may want to contact Apple Support directly again. They might need to look at those 4 purchases specifically to determine what can be done.

You can reach them here: Get Support

You can also find the support phone number for your region at this link: Contact Apple for support and service

Best regards.

All of the 15 moves I have were purchased from the Apple Store. Only 4 have this issue. I can download them and they work perfect but if I quit Apple TV and then open it up again the same 4 movies won’t work. All I get is a really quick screen like they want to play. I as on the phone with Apple for about 2 hours and they can’t seem to figure it out.
