Screenshot issue after iOS 16.5 update

I can’t take screenshots after updating to iOS 16.5. I don’t know if it’s an issue with the update or something else. I tried to take a screenshot of the Uber app and after second, loading screen pops up and then I get greeted with my Lock Screen. I tested it on Safari and it seems to work there.

Hi TheDudeBruh,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about issues with your iPhone. Thanks for also letting us know you are already updated to iOS 16.5.

It sounds like this was a one-time issue since the screenshot worked for Safari.

You might want to check this help article for issues with apps, since the third-party app Uber was open when it restarted: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

You can also check the troubleshooting here: If your iOS or iPadOS device restarts or displays the Apple logo or a spinning gear unexpectedly

Also, test if the issue was only during the Uber app, or if any apps open cause your deice to restart. If it's only with the Uber app, you may want to ask the developer to check their app.

How to contact an app developer

Cheers!

I had this issue after an update to iOS 17.11.1. I was unable to take a screen shot from any app - even after reboot. Holding the home and volume up keys would just bring up the power down screen, and then the Lock Screen when dismissed.

I was finally able to resolve it by opening my camera app and pressing the screencap button combo there. The screenshot saved as expected. It then resumed working everywhere (for now).
