Favorite Artists Section is not showing

I am running the latest iOS and Music App. I have marked artists as favorites. Favorite artist list is not showing up at Listen Now. Why not?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16

Here's what I did to fix the issue on my iPhone and iPad.

  1. Open Apple Music
  2. Tap "Listen Now"
  3. Tap your profile icon on the top right
  4. Tap "Notifications"
  5. Make sure "new music", "show in library" are turned on.

I noticed at the top of the screen in red text it said, "Allow Notifications on This iPhone"

Tap that and it'll turn on notifications, or it will open the Settings for Music. Make sure "Allow Notifications" is on, "Time Sensitive Notifications" are on, and any alert settings you want.

Go back into Apple Music and tap another tab, like "Library" and then go back to "Listen Now". It should refresh and you'll see your "Favorite Artists" near the bottom of the list.

I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but I figured I'd share since it resolved my issue on both of my devices. :-)

Hello Jay-Mika,

Verify that you are following the steps to add an artist as a Favorite, as shown here:

Add and see your favorite artists in Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android - Apple Support

How to add favorite artists in Apple Music
1. Open the Apple Music app.
2. Search for an artist and go to their artist page.
3. At the top of the artist's page, tap Add to Favorites Add to Favorites
If you don't see an option to add an artist to favorites:
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Update your iPad to the latest version of iPadOS.
Update your Mac to the latest version of macOS.
• Update the Apple Music app on your Android to the latest version.

If you're still not seeing your favorite artists in the Listen Now tab after following the troubleshooting steps above, then you'll want to contact Apple Support.

Thank you for this! it's totally demented that it works this way but now I can finally figure who the singer I saw a local coffeehouse yesterday is. (She said her name and I pulled up Apple Music and found her and tapped the star... of course today I don't remember her name.)

Apple: this is totally silly, why don't favorite artists just appear regardless of whether notifications are on?

First the "favorite artists" disappeared. Then it was replaced by this:

This is super unfortunate. You can't indeed go to your favorite artist ANYWAY. If you click on the face, nothing happens, if you click on the three dots you can only "share", if you click on the Play button, it starts playing music from that artist, but not necessarily the music you want to hear.

Apple, believe it or not, some people actually KNOW what they like and what they want to listen to. So if I want to listen to a specific album from Thomas Newman, I don't want you to push me anything your algorithm feels like I could like. I want to listen to that particular album. Now I simply cannot do it easily that way, I have to look (using the search function) for the artist or album name, which defeats the purpose of having a "Favorite artists" list.

The "suggested" music is being pushed more and more down our throats, but some of us really just want to listen to a specific album or song from our favorite artist. It should not be so hard. Please get the favorite artists list back to what it was, people who don't care about their music will probably don't even visit that section, they will just click on Play and let you choose for them.
