How to autoplay next episode of an Apple Podcast?

I have had this same issue for quite some time now since several new Apple updates. The suggested fix does not work for me. “Continuous playback” in podcast settings is on but it still has this exact aggravating issue. I don’t know how many times I have had to find a way to fix this or re-figure out how to continue using the podcast app the way I have enjoyed since the beginning with every update.

Before iOS 17.1.1, I don’t have to go through the ‘selecting and adding to queue’ process. I simply pick an episode at Library, when it ends, the next episode will be continue automatically. But now I have to create a playlist list which is time-consuming.

I search this up about five times and it shows me the same thing or does it say Google podcast and I have a Apple iPad so it never shows me what I want the app that I’m looking at is Podcasts it’s a purple app with a podcast sign on it does anybody have this problem because I do nothing shows up I can never do anything on it just never does anything and it’s useless. The Internet really needs to add that because I’ve been sitting here like five minutes and I want to go to bed.

SOLUTION: (iOS 18)

1. Open up the Apple Podcasts APP
2. On the top, you should see the "Up Next" section
3. For the "Shows" you DON'T want in the queue, long press on the three dots "..." icon on the bottom right corner.
4. Select "Remove from Up Next"
5. Once you have a single "Show" left in the "Up Next" section, that show will playback continuously.

i think it's a bug of new os or sth if your Up Next does not work and apple should seriously address this issue

Disregard. It worked for the podcast I was listening to but not for the next one I started.

Making a station has worked for me but it stopped working and know I can't get it working again. My queue is empty 🤷‍♂️

I have all of these settings set as described here but the "queue" takes over and plays an episode from a seemingly random different podcast I follow. Please fix/advise!!

oh wow, this is totally the solution that worked for me. And I agree that it's a totally useless feature for podcasts to be shuffled.

I open podcast app on iPhone. There is no “up next” section showing. Could you be more specific as how to get there ? Episodes still not showing in que or playing next as I would like. Tks
