When I try AirPlay, its asking for an onscreen code from a device that doesn't have a screen.

When I try to AirPlay from any device, I get the following message: Airplay Code Enter the on-screen code for "Living Room". It will do this for "any room" that I try to airplay to. The problem is that there is no code displayed on any of these devices and no code is displayed on my apple tv when I turn it on. So I am stuck. Can you help, please?

Onscreen or on screen code is not the same as passcode or password.

Why is the Apple community confusing the issue?

I have the same issue only seven months later. Airplay requires an On Screen code for my Bose Music Amplifier which does not have a screen.

The AirPlay (for playing music) and Home (for connection to Home) dialogue boxed are useless in trying to sort out what is required. It’s interesting that my HomePod (original) speakers have no problem connecting to the Bose Music amplifier!
