How to know of if a watch is stolen

I bought a watch but I think it’s stolen so I wanna give it back or find out why it won’t work

Is the watch Activation Locked? That would be a good indication you are in possession of a stolen Apple Watch. There is no way you can reunite the watch with its owner. If you can get a refund from the seller, try to return the watch. If you can't either turn the watch over to the authorities in your town or recycle the watch responsibly. Apple doesn't get involved in lost or stolen devices, so they won't help you. And if the watch is activation locked, you simply can't use it, unless whoever the real owner of the watch unlocks it for you.
