On what device did you intend to use Home Sharing access? Is it on an Apple TV box? If so, which model? [1] [2]

On what computer do you have the Home Sharing library? What is its version system software?

Please see if you can do AirPlay between the computer and the Home Sharing access device, as that would confirm that the network isn’t the issue here.

Ventura has the System Settings redesigned, so you may have to find your way around there a bit anew.

Use Home Sharing to share media from a computer to other devices - Apple Support

  • System Settings﹥General﹥Sharing﹥Media Sharing ﹥ⓘ﹥ ﹥Library Name: [unique name] ﹥☑︎ Home Sharing﹥[set matching Apple ID account]

Mind the sliders and checkboxes.

Verify that all devices connect to the same home network (for Wi-Fi: same SSID network name), else devices will not be able to communicate with each other.

I have the same problem. Home sharing on my iMac worked perfectly on Big Sur, but Ventura is no go. I have two Apple TV version 2 which used to work OK, an iPhone and I also have a Bose Soundwave I could stream to. None of these are even showing in Airplay from the Music.app.

I have signed out and resigned in on the Apple TV's, but still no change. It appears to be my computer which is causing the problem. I have resigned in for 'Sharing' several times, but doesn't seem to work

My latest version Apple TV 4K connects to my home sharing library on my new Mac Studio, but the connection is unacceptably slow. Very slow to present the available media for videos and for music. Music playback pauses for several minutes then starts and stops again. It is as if the Mac goes to sleep and is slow to wake even though I turned off sleep when display is off. My home network is Quantum Fiber Wi-Fi pods.

Thanks for the reply. I am familiar with the settings in Ventura and had already set Home Sharing as you suggest. All my devices are on the same Network and same User ID. Forgetting all the peripherals for now, I sit in front of my computer with all settings, as far as I am aware, correct, but even my iPhone on my desk is not recognised. I have checked in iPhone settings and it shows the same network.

Interestingly, this afternoon, when I was trying yet again to set the Home Sharing in the Settings, the whole Settings froze and I had to Force Quit to get out of it

After an hour talking to support, the first thing that came to light was to turn on File sharing. This is not mentioned in Support notes, which mentions turning on Media Sharing only.

With File sharing selected, I could access my Computer Music Library on my iPhone, however not on my 2 Apple TV's. Neither could I find my own holiday videos stored on my computer. It seems I could only access Movies I had paid for from Apple and I had none of those.

On and before Big Sur I could access everything, everywhere. The Apple Support Staff was not aware that it used to be done and after quite a bit of work, suggested that the only option would be to downgrade back to Big Sur

So it seems Home Sharing is not what it used to be - or do you know where I may have gone wrong? I need to see my travel movies back o Big Screen
