Software Update Available

All:

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro, 15" that I changed to be my primary device. I recently migrated over my data from my newer 13" MacBook Pro.

My 2015 MacBook Pro is only cleared through Monterey, but the 13" was upgraded through Ventura. The System Preferences app shows a "Software Update Available" but you cannot click on the notice or on the "Continue" to the side to clear the message. The "Software Update" button below shows that no updates are available.

I've tried restarting, but I can't seem to remove the notice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It shows I have updates on the logo on the dock and I'm hoping I can do something to clear that out.

your 2015 MBP cannot be upgraded to Ventura. Monterey is as far as it can go.

in your screenshot, it shows a badge on the "Apple ID" section of system preferences. I'm guessing you are being prompted to confirm or update your Apple ID settings on the Monterey MBP.

sorry, I missed that. IDK where to go from there. since clicking "continue" doesn't do anything, then I am stumped. but have no fear. this community is loaded with knowledgeable people. someone else will likely be able to assist you.

Thanks for your feedback.

I know I can't upgrade to Ventura, but why is it prompting me to "continue" with the software update?

I will try and sign out and see what happens.

looking at your screenshot above, the "update badge" is on the Apple ID section. not the software update section. where are you seeing that software update has an available update?

Directly above "General" it says "Software Update Available" and then on the right it says "Continue"
