I got a brand new Macbook Air M2 this week for school and within the 2 days it started lagging badly and delaying my work. I want to know why and what I can do to fix this problem. This is causing me to have a hard time taking notes and getting my school work done.

A brand new Mac should not be having those problems. The first thing you should do is contact Apple Support, here: Official Apple Support
Until you are able to do that, please determine if the same problems occur in "Safe Mode": How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support.
