Your new 15" MBA shouldn't be running slowly, that's for sure!

I would ask if you have any anti-virus, "Mac Cleaner", "Mac Optimizer" or VPN software installed on this new Mac? These can definitely bring even the most powerful Mac to its knees under the right conditions. And the simple fact is that they're not needed with a Mac.

I'd also ask how much RAM you have and the internal SSD size (and also how much available space)?

Hey there, thank you for your reply by the way.

So, regarding the antivirus and everything you mentioned earlier, I haven't downloaded any of those so far. The only things I've downloaded are just the usual daily apps like Adobe, printer software, WPS, Grammarly, WhatsApp, Canva, and so far, all these apps doesn't taken up much space on my MBA.

As for the details of my RAM and SSD, it comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. As for the available spaces, the current usage is about 48GB out of the initial SSD capacity.

Do you think that the recent update might be one of the reason of me somehow finding my MBA to be working slightly slow? I have never used any MB in my entire life, but I do own an iPad though and I find it to be working way better than my MacBook, haha xD

Or perhaps my expectation was too high, idk. Since I know for a fact that products coming from Apple always work and run smoothly and they'll not get stuck unless they're way too old. Not to say that my MacBook got stuck or be lagging so bad, its just that when I tried opening the app or click anything, the respond coming from my Mac is not that impressive. It is quite slow ngl, but not thaaaaat slow, if u get what I mean.

Anyway, thanks for your time. Appreciate it a lot :)

My recommendation would be to download/install/run a free app, Etrecheck, and post the results here (using the Additional Text icon, third from the right in the bottom of the Reply window).

https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html

Etrecheck is a benign app that doesn't collect or display any personal information, but often times it can help us understand why your Mac has become sluggish. I would recommend you allow it full disk access so it can provide as much info as possible.

Run the report in Etrecheck, copy it to your Clipboard, then paste it in your reply using the Additional Text feature.

More information is required. How much RAM does your computer have? How much free hard drive space? Launch Activity Monitor, click on the Memory tab across the top and at the bottom look at the Battery Pressure gauge. What does it say/look like? And next to the gauge, how much Swap memory is being used. Finally, are you using any ‘cleaning’ or anti malware applications? If so, quit and delete them, they are almost certainly the cause of your lag.

Hello there. I have answered quite a similar question to yours above. Yeah, again in regards to the RAM and SSD, not much spaces is taken, and I dont have such cleaning or anti malware apps running on my MacBook. I'll deffo try and check the amount of swap memory being used. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Again, I'd suggest running the Etrecheck app on your MacBook Air and post the results here. After running the report, copy the entire report to your Clipboard, then paste it here using the Additional Text icon (third from the right on the bottom of the Reply window).

Something is slowing your MacBook Air down, and Etrecheck is an excellent tool, written by a contributor to these discussions, that often helps us see things that might be causing this. Etrecheck is completely safe and doesn't reveal any private information.

I’m ****** off. No matter what I do, mine is slow as **** too!!

Regretting going for the 256GB version, keep reading the same thing about it now, that it’s slower than the M1 chip🤦‍♀️

Support tells me I may have too many apps running, or storage is full, the storage is literally only used for the apps and I have Chrome, Slack and Zoom for work going at all times and it’s too much apparently.

I don’t think any updates or app will ever fix that.
