Mouse pointer not working properly when using screen mirroring

I have a MacBook Air M2 (2022) running macOS Ventura 13.2.1 and an Apple TV 4K running tvOS 16.4. When I using screen mirroring from my MacBook to my Apple TV my mouse becomes completely useless. I have tried using the touchpad and the lag is so bad I can't see where my mouse is half the time and when I click where I think that it's at I end up selecting something that's not even in the same vicinity of the screen where I see the mouse pointer. I have tried the following to no avail:

Restart Mac

Restart Apple TV

Use a different mouse

Use a different Apple TV

Reset Apple TV

Change Accounts on both Apple TV and MacBook (multiple iterations)

At this point I am running out of options and I would rather not go the nuclear route and reinstall MacOS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was really hoping that keeping all hardware on the same software environment would have alleviated these problems, but apparently it did not.

Perhaps time to switch back to my Chromebook?
