Once again, the font bar is off to the side on Mail

It happens from time to time, and I notice others have had this problem. Now it's back again and I can't figure out how and why it got fixed last time. The font bar (not to tool bar!) is shifted over to the right, nearly off screen on _reply_ emails. Going full screen didn't fix it, re-booting in safe mode didn't fix it and, of course, you cannot access that line in the "customize toolbar" menu because it's not part of the toolbar (it's the line _below_ the toolbar on a reply window). Here's a picture:

Any help would be appreciated.

Create and log into a new, basic, admin user account, Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac and see if the problem persists. This tells us if the problem is limited to your user account or is system wide.

Note:  do not launch any 3rd party apps in the account so as to not install any of the supporting files that most create.

If the problem isn't present then your original account has software installed that is causing the problem.

I see no image here...

nor do I fully grok what the issue is really...

You can try quitting Mail. When you relaunch Mail.app hold the Shift key down, and compare your results.

What I can say—

The current stable release of Ventura including bug fixes, security updates is macOS Ventura 13.3

If you go back to the picture I posted with the red arrows, you'll notice that the "Verdana" box is not on the menu bar, so I cannot customize it. I've customized the heck out of the menu bar, but it does not touch that second line where the "Verdana" is pushed off to the side. Am I missing something? I've even tried removing all the buttons on the menu bar to see if that "Verdana" box gets sucked up into to the first line... but it doesn't. This is so frustrating, because I happen to use the heck out of the quick formatting tool. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to access that second line?

Yes, I did hit that chevron button, but it doesn't show the "Verdana" button.

Signatures can cause issues with Mail window size...

try deleting the sigs and or removing the sigs for the account and test.

Yep, did that. I wish I knew how to do that slick animation you just did - but, failing that, here are my screen shots: the first before I clicked the "Format" button, the second after I clicked it. Also, here's another weird thing: I keep re-booting after each of these things (just for the heck of it) and once or twice(!) the "Verdana" button was back where it belonged. Check out the third screen shot.

Before pressing the "Format" button:

Then I pressed the "Format" button:

No joy. But every once in awhile, when I hit "Reply" to an email, it displays correctly!! Like this:

This is maddening. Could I be the only person having this problem? Or just the only person who uses a MacBook to reply to emails? 🤓
