Apple subscription for paramount+ not working

All of a sudden last night Paramount+ wanted to charge me $2.99 to watch Star Trek TNG. I watch it every night on my iPad to fall asleep, through the AppleTV app. I have paid monthly for this channel for two years.

I also binge survivor, which is a paramount program, through Appletv app on my iPad and my Samsung. it is not asking me to pay to watch survivor.

both shows are owned/controlled by CBS. Content is only available with a paramount streaming subscription. Their availability to be streamed on other platforms (Netflix etc) is either limited or not available at all. Paramount+ is the only platform where you can watch every episode of every season for both shows.

I pay for my Paramount+ channel as a subscription through my Apple ID. My monthly subscription renewal charge went through a few days ago, so I know my subscription is current.

when I clicked on Star Trek, the options were to pay $2.99 or open in the Paramount+ app, or Amazon prime.

I do not have an account created directly through Paramount+, So I would assume that my username and password would be my Apple ID and Apple password. however, my Apple ID username and password are not working and the Paramount+ app.

I tried to create an account on paramount app but it wants to charge me.
