Bay Roes and ROESengine Not Opening

Hello, Apple Gurus!

I'm unable to launch Bay Roes from Bay Photo and have the same issue with ACILabs with their ROESengine. Does anyone have any advice or work-around for this issue?

I am running Monterey 12.6.3 and have the Mac Mini (M1, 2020 / 16 GB RAM).

Thank you!

The fact that its System Requirements reference OS X and Vista make me wonder if they have ever updated their software. Both of those operating systems have been dead for over five years. Have you asked their support people if they plan on supporting a modern operating system?

It appears that ROESEngine is a Java app. Apple dropped all native support for Java years ago. Java apps will still run, but you have to install Java yourself and maintain it yourself. I don’t know if it runs on Apple Silicon Macs.

Newer Java apps should have the Java runtime embedded in the app bundle. You may have to run the app from the command line, directly. What happens when you try to open the ROESEngine? Any messages? Nothing?

Thank you for your reply Barney.

I don’t think they have any plans with up dating their program. I remember speaking with them about this a couple of months ago and they mentioned that there was a recent upgrade. It sounds like they have not.

I do have a Java installed on my computer. And over the past several months. Remember getting a couple of updates. So I assume my Java is updated on my system. They sent me instructions on how to remove all of the files just start from scratch. that didn’t rectify anything. So I may have to just order online from them rather than using their catalog feature in ROES. It was the same situation for both companies.

When I think that I’ve successfully installed the program, it just stalls for about an hour. So I gave up on that. I guess I’ll just have to order online from them.

Thanks very much for your help. I appreciate it.
