converting music to files

when i click the music option on the menu bar, there is then no option for preferences. what do i click since there is no option for preferences

Settings has replaced Preferences.

Don't add songs to iTunes 12.12 library automatically in Windows 10 Need a current accurate answer. "Preferences > Files, and uncheck "Copy files to Music Media folder when adding to library." is inaccurate. Should be Edit>Preferences but no option to uncheck "Copy files" Thanks in advance.
