AirPods disconnect while working out

I have AirPods, Apple Watch, and I phone. When working out, I use the Roku app from my phone and activate the headphone to send the sound to my AirPods. It works great while rowing or running. But soon as I start lifting weights/moving my arms up and down my AirPods disconnects from my phone. I suspect that my watch might be interfering….but I have no idea. When I look at my watch, it doesn’t appear to be engaged. Help!

Does this only seem to happen when sending sound from the Roku app, or does it happen with audio from other sources as well?

Testing that can help determine what's happening.

If it's only happening when listening through the Roku app, you'll want to check if the Roku app has any updates and see if that helps. How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support
