Confused by total calories

I have just put my watch on and noticed my total calories burnt is already over 1000, I have only done a few steps. I am trying to lose weight so need to know how many calories I am burning a day. The total by the end of the day after a workout is usually around 2300. So a little confused why it’s at 1432 already?!

I have looked into this and I am wrong.

Cal and kCal both give exactly the same number so we still need to workout why you start the day on 1400 total calories.

Do you wear the Watch while sleeping?

If so is it on Sleep Monitoring?

If you have the Watch on the night stand in night stand mode on charge all night then I am at a loss, in which case reach out to Apple Support directly. You should be able to reach them here

Thankyou for that,

I have had an Apple Watch for years and had years worth of data in the health app connected to the fitness app.

I deleted all the resting calories data which deleted it all in the fitness app. It reset todays to 0 for me to start a fresh. The only downside is that I have lost all the total calories for the past but at least I know it’s accurate (ish) going forward…
