Couldnt communicate with a helper application when connecting iPhone - Monterey/iOS 16 **Part 2**

I posted this question in Jan:

I'm trying to reorganize my iPhone apps through Apple Configurator 2.16 on iMac19, 1 (because it's the only process that's functional when you're moving more than one thing) and I keep getting the "couldn't communicate with a helper application" error, including "[NSCocoaErrorDomain - 0x1001 (4097)]". I've restarted the Configurator app, my desktop, and my phone, and repeatedly get this message, and the test move I'm doing doesn't stick. I'm on Monterey 12.6.2, and iOS 16.2 on iPhone SE. Am I doing something wrong? Does this thing just not work? I'll appreciate any help you can lend!

Well, the answer I received was regarding how to add apps to my device. That wasn't my question. And unfortunately the question has timed out and I can't reply to it, so I'm starting a new post:

My question still stands. I move apps using the Actions > Modify > Home Screen Layout, and when I click Apply, i receive the error message "couldn't communicate with a helper application" error, including " [NSCocoaErrorDomain - 0x1001 (4097)]" and none of my changes "stick." How can I get Configurator to apply these changes to my iPhone?

I really miss doing this so easily in iTunes.....

Hello jlsea,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with using Apple Configurator to organize apps on your iPhone. We are happy to help.

Please try the steps here to see if they resolve the issue: Add apps to a device in Apple Configurator - Apple Support

"Add apps using your personal Apple ID

  1. In Apple Configurator , choose Account > Sign In, then sign in to the App Store with your personal Apple ID.
  2. The same Apple ID used to purchase the apps must be used on the device.
  3. Enter your six-digit verification code.
  4. After you’ve signed in, select one or more devices or Blueprints.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • Click the Add button  in the toolbar, select Apps, then select the apps in the window.
    • Choose Actions > Add > Apps.
  • Control-click the selected devices or Blueprints, then select Add > Apps.
    • The number beneath each app indicates the number of licenses the app has available for assignment.

5. Click Add Apps, and the apps are immediately added to the device or stored as an action in the Blueprint."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Sorry, this doesn't help, it's the same answer as I received on my first request. I'm not looking to add apps, I'm looking to reorganize the apps on my home screen. Remember when you could move things around in iTunes? That's what I'm trying to do here. I have all the apps I want available in Configurator and on my phone, I'm able to open Actions > Modify > Home Screen Layout and move them around, but when i hit Apply, I get the listed error message and the changes don't register on my phone. How can I get Configurator to recognize my phone so the changes will apply?
