ipod touch into dfu mode

im trying to restore my ipod touch and it keeps saying it needs to be put into dfu mode.I thought that was recovery mode.

iPod touch in dfu mode, while itunes says ipod is no longer in DFU mode I found an old iPod touch from a while ago, and while trying to restore it due to a boot looping issue, it told me to place the iPod into DFU mode, which I did, and now on iTunes it is telling me I need to reconnect the iPod and put it in DFU mode. I can't get my Generation 3 IPod into DFU mode in order to restore and update IPod will not go into DFU mode. I have held the start button and the volume minus key according to directions but the message says it had restarted and needs to be put in DFU mode again, which I am not able to do.

If it is an iPod Touch, it is now called Recovery Mode, and you'll need a computer to connect your device in the mode.
