iPod touch in dfu mode, while itunes says ipod is no longer in DFU mode

I found an old iPod touch from a while ago, and while trying to restore it due to a boot looping issue, it told me to place the iPod into DFU mode, which I did, and now on iTunes it is telling me I need to reconnect the iPod and put it in DFU mode. Any fix for this?

With the help of Apple Support, I connected the iPod to another computer and was able to restore it. Back on my computer, the restore from backup did not work, so I have to put all my content back on the iPod, but at least it's working now.

Hello Karking,

For help with restore errors concerning your iPod touch, start with these steps: If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

  1. Update your computer.
  2. If you are using iTunes, make sure it also is fully updated: Update to the latest version of iTunes for Windows 10
  3. Try a different cable to connect your iPod touch to your computer.
  4. Restart your computer, then force restart your iPod touch: Force restart iPod touch
  5. Check to make sure you don't have a firewall or security software enabled on your computer.
  6. Try this process connected to a different computer.

Reply back with how it goes.

Best regards.

I'm having the same problem, the battery of my old iPod touch (I keep it in my car for music) died, as it does occasionally. However, after charging, there were no songs on the iPod. When I tried restoring from a backup, I got that message about DFU mode. I've tried putting it into DFU mode as per the instructions I've found in many places, but it doesn't appear to be working. The iPod turns on with the "Connect to iTunes" screen, but when I click Restore iPod, I just get that DFU message again. It's an endless loop. This is the 2nd old iPod that this has happened to. I eventually gave up on the first one, but I was hoping this one was not toast. Is my old iPod dead?
