My iPhone has Weak Security alert on WPA2 wifi connection with my Alcatel Linkzone 2 hotspot
I saw another article on this with no update since last year and I just got the same hotspot from Boost Mobile.
Basically it's the same story, I don't see where I can update the hotspot to WPA2-PSK+AES but in the specs on Alcatel's site (https://us.alcatelmobile.com/alcatel-linkzone-2/), it says it's supported:
Encryption: WPA, WPA2
Pre-Shared Key (PSK)
+ Encryption: AES, TKIP, Auto
It's a brand new Alcatel Linkzone 2 hotspot (with service from Boost Mobile). When I log into the hotspot settings at http://192.168.0.1, the security mode selected is "WPA2". The other security options are "Disabled" and "WPA/WPA2".
When I connect to my iPhone 12 Pro Max (iOS 16.3.1) to the hotspot's wifi, the connection shows up as "Weak Security", apparently classifying the security mode as WPA2 (TKIP) rather than WPA2-Personal. I have "forgotten this network" and reset the Network Settings under "Settings>General>Transfer or Reset iPhone" and it still shows up as weak security when I reconnect.
Apple's support article (HT202068) says that "WPA2 Personal (AES)" is acceptable if WPA3 is not available. So why am I getting the "Weak Security" alert on a WPA2 connection?
