Impossible to Change Battery in Air Tag

Does anyone have any tips on how to turn the two, thin, slick round surfaces on an air tag, against spring tension, to get the tabs on the cover to slide beneath the catches on the case? I’ve tried two pairs of pliers without success. Might have been helpful to make the spring tension a bit lighter or to provide some means of gripping the two parts that would allow them to turn against the pressure being exerted by the springs.

Yes, I’ve seen the article. I understand how it’s supposed to work in theory.

I’ve since discovered that one of the tabs that holds the cover in place is broken. But I’m able to use my keychain case to hold the two pieces together.

I just think it’s bad design not to provide a simple slot that would allow the use of a coin or screwdriver to turn the small, narrow, slick cover when removing or replacing it.
