Have as LG TV; Apple TV , trying to add an LG sound bar (S80QY) can not get sound through the sound bar, any help would be appreciated
Connect in one of these ways:
Apple TV →[HDMI]→ TV →[HDMI (e)ARC]→ soundbar
or
Apple TV →[HDMI]→ soundbar →[HDMI (e)ARC]→ TV
Set Apple TV to output audio to “TV Speakers” (=audio over HDMI), and set your TV to use the soundbar for audio output. That should be it.
As usual, @Urquhart1244, is correct.
Since your soundbar supports Dolby Atmos, you'll want Urquhart1244's 2nd option: connect a quality "HDMI Ultra High Speed" cable from your ATV4K to the 'HDMI-in' on the soundbar, then from the soundbar's HDMI out to the TV's [e]ARC HDMI port.
