Apple watch no longer controlling volume from now playing

I am no longer able to control the volume on my watch to what ever I’m streaming (Hulu/Spotify etc) on my iPhone. Just all of a sudden after a system update to 16.whatever I can no longer use this function. I’ve seen others post the same issue with no resolution. I followed the steps to restart my phone first then the watch then both at the same time.. none of these have resolved, I even reset and repaired my watch and still nothing argh so frustrating!! All I get is a small icon at the top of my watch screen showing somethings playing. Does anyone have an actual fix

to this?
