No audio when USB-C hub is connected

Hi all,

when I connect a usb-c hub to my ipad pro I can no longer use the internal speaker nor the microphone with any app. Is there a hidden option to switch back to the internal mic/speaker? If not this is definitely a major bug and should be taken care of quickly. Only work around for me is to use my airpods but even then I have to switch manually from usb-c to the airpods depending on witch app I use (Webex= yes / Teams = no).

Best regards and you all have a great week!

Some USB-C hubs incorporate a DAC and 3.5mm headphone jack. Depending upon the hub’s design, this may unconditionally signal to the iPad that headphones (or other audio device) are connected, suppressing audio from the iPad’s speakers. This is not a fault of the iPad or iPadOS, but a limitation of the hub’s design.

Better hub/adapters that incorporate a DAC will only signal connection of headphones when they are actually connected to the adapter. This arrangement overcomes the limitation of simpler designs - and won’t unconditionally suppress audio from the iPad’s speakers.
