Can’t open HEIC Files on IPhone 12-Pro

Received several HEIC files which are actually photos, software is up to date, tried several tips and nothing, can’t forward them to anyone nor save them.

Im unable to open .heic files on my iphone. I have a iphone 13 pro plus People send pictures to me in this .heic format and I am unable to open them. There isnt even an option to open them.

Cannot open or save .heic file in messages. Today my sister sent photos from her iPhone 13 to my iPhone 13 and they appeared as .heic files, a format I had not previously seen. I cannot view them and I cannot save them to files or the photo app. IOS 16.2 heic format for camera turned on never received files in this format previously, don’t know why it chose today to start doing this. Has anyone figured out how to save these from messages to their files or photos on the iPhone?

I can’t open .heic files on my iPhone 13 I have an iPhone 13 Pro and a friend with the same iPhone is sending me .heic files to Messages. I can’t open them, share them or download. What gives? I have iOS 16.4.1
