Carplay crashes if "Sync Library" is on.

Hi

There is another thread from 9 months ago with the same issue and had no reply, so I thought I would ask again.

Previous thread: CarPlay Apple Music App Freezes When I Tu… - Apple Community

If "Sync Library" is on under Settings>Music on my iPhone 13 Pro Max - iOS 16.3.1, it crashes the Music App and my car radio display goes to the Home Screen in a Nissan Navara Pro4X.

If I turn it off, Music works 100% but I am not able to browse any of my Playlists or saved music.

My wife's iPhone 12 Pro Max with "Sync Library" turned on, works 100% in my car, so this is a problem with iOS and not the car system.

My phone worked 100% for the first 9 months after getting the vehicle and then after one of the iOS updates it stopped, there has been quite a few updates since and still an issue.

I have done a "Reset All Settings" on my phone and still an issue. Also tried another cable but my wife's phone is fine with my original cable.

Hey EMitton,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Have you "Forgot this Car" in CarPlay and then set it up again? If not, going through those steps may help reset the connection between CarPlay and the device. To Forget the Car, go to Settings > General > CarPlay > Forget This Car.

To set up CarPlay again, follow the steps below or in this article: Use CarPlay with your iPhone.

1. Start your car, then make sure that Siri is on.
2. Connect your iPhone to your car:
• If your car supports CarPlay with a USB cable, plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon. Be sure to use an Apple Lightning to USB cable.

• If your car supports CarPlay both wirelessly and with a USB cable, plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. An alert on your iPhone will offer to connect you wirelessly on your next drives.

• If your car supports only wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel. Make sure that your stereo is in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on. Then, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and select your car. Check your car manual for more information.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Hi

Yes, I have done that a couple of times.

Done all the things mentioned for others experiencing some sort of crash when using CarPlay like EQ off (and on and off again), Airplane Mode, Siri On, Brand New Apple Cable, etc.

If I have "Sync Library" on I am able to play music if I have my Carplay on Maps or anything other than Music. As soon as I go to Music it crashes a few seconds later.

Thanks
