CAN'T revive or restore Mac mini M1 (2020)
My Mac Mini M1 presented with an amber blinking light and would not boot up, even in Recovery mode.
I have followed the steps for using Apple Configurator 2 to place my Mac Mini M1 in DFU mode. I after many failed attempts with the "Advanced>Revive" option, I decided to bite the bullet and "Advanced Restore."
In all cases, the result is the same: An error message (4014) and the information that it encountered an unexpected state 'DFU', but was expecting 'Recovery.' I watched the process closely, and in fact, the computer at one point switches from DFU (amber light) to Recovery (white light), but then it reverts back to DFU (amber) and then throws out the error.
I can't seem to find anything on any work arounds or things I might be doing incorrectly. I have tried different USB-C cables. I have tried the method where I downloaded the ipsw file separately then dragged and dropped it into the DFU icon.
I know that the probable next option is taking it to Apple to let them look at it; but what I would like to know is if someone has encountered this and there is something I'm missing that would allow me to do it myself.
