Removing photos from recents without removing same from an album

Is this not possible? Recent switch to android to iphone and noticed when I "place" a photo in an album but then delete from that massive "recent" or "camera roll" folder it also deletes from the album. I did read here that it isn't actually moving the photo just linking it but the last thread was from over a year ago. Has this been changed? I do not want thousands of photos just hanging out in camera roll or recents...........

Ok thanks. I guess some folks see it as an advantage, I see it has a giant disorganized mess. I appreciate the reply and the information! Have a great day.

No, it is not possible.

The Recents and All Photos albums are the place, where you always will be finding all photos. each photo is only stored once and will apper in Recents, etc. Deleting a photo from any of the albums, that Photos has automatically created for us, will delete the photo everywhere.

The albums we are creating do not store photos. They are just referencing the photos in the library. This is having the advantage, that we can use a photo in many albums, without having to create duplicates.

You could create your own album "My Recents" or "My All Photos", if you need an album, from where you can to distribute your photos to other albums. After you add a photo from your own "recents" to other albums, you can remove it from "My Recents" without removing it from other albums as well well.
