Blocking email

I just activated my new iPhone 14 and noticed that I no longer get the red symbol when I try to block junk email senders. In my mail settings, blocked sender options, the mark blocked sender option is ON and in actions I have selected "move to trash". When I receive junk mail, I click on the sender address and click on "block this contact" as well as confirm "block this contact" when the pop up appears, but do not get the red symbol to appear on the email as it did on my previous iPhone 11. Please let me know what I am doing wrong or what I can do to block all these junk emails I am receiving. Thank you

I have been using the block information but it does not seem to be sending the emails to trash and not building a blocked email address list like it did with my previous iPhone. When I blocked email addresses previously it would give me the red symbol most of the time and the address would go into the block senders list. The phone does not appear to be blocking any of the junk emails even after I have executed the block instructions.

Hey ebkelsey160,

We see you mentioned your iPhone is new. Does it have the latest iOS 16.3.1 version installed? If not, we recommend backing up your iPhone and updating.

After you update, or if your iPhone is currently up to date, then you will want to reach out to Apple Support so they can look into this with you further.

Take care!

Hi there ebkelsey160,

It's not expected to see a red symbol when blocking an email address on your iPhone. Any emails from that sender will be sent directly to the trash:

When you block an email address from Mail, it goes to the trash folder. Email blocking works across all your Apple devices.
