I am using a Waves plugin (Clarity vx) to remove unwanted background noise. It works great when I play it back on the timeline but when I export to file it appears to ignore the plugin and all the background noise it there. Anyone run into issues of final cut ignoring plugins on export?

If you have an M1/M2 MBP, Waves plugins are not compatible with FCP:

Lots of audio plugins don't work at all, or properly, with more recent versions of macOS and FCP, whether Intel or Apple Silicon based HW.
You might want to contact Waves Support for further help...
OK, I might have gotten it to work...sort of? I do have and M1Pro chip. I right clicked and "detached audio" and it seems to export fine now. I can't use compressor with this workflow but if I use final cut's share option I can get it to work. Hopefully there is something that can be worked out with this because Waves Clarity Vx is a bit of magic for my audio!! Hope this helps people to find work around but ultimately I would love this integration but to be worked out.
You could always expand/detach audio clips (usually later in the overall editing process is ideal) and export them and use the plugin in a supported digital audio workstation application. Then, reimport the audio and replace the original...
I guess that could work as well...but I have never done that before so I may have to play around with it some. At least for now detaching audio and exporting like normal (within final cut...not compressor) seems to work with my Waves Clarity Vx plugin.
