My double click to highlight a word no longer works.
Is there a setting I'm missing? I've tried all combinations. Thanks.

Solved! I had set the Accessibility/Pointer Conrol settings. I had double click all the way to right (fastest). I pulled the speed back a notch and it works fine. Thank you!

Thank you for the reply! I've gone through what you suggested and more. I triple checked the prefs for Magic Trackpad and accessibility ( 1-click checked). The cursor moves fine. It's the double-tap to highlight or open anything. It quit responding.
The SINGLE click works. As does the 3-finger drag I set in settings. All I can think of is some settings changed, but I've tried everything. Including in Safe Mode.
If you have any ideas, please pass on. Thanks again.
Hey Armin Miewes,
Does it only happens with specific apps or all apps? If you haven't yet, try quitting the app and reopen it to see if it helps: How to force an app to quit on your Mac
Also, try restarting your Mac: Shut down or restart your Mac
If those steps doesn't help, let's test it out under safe mode to see if it makes a difference:
How to use safe mode on your Mac
Apple silicon
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.
Let us know how it goes!
Best regards.
Armin Miewe,
Which specific preferences did you look into other than the 1-click option? While in the Accessibility section, did you try adjusting the double click speed? This will show where that is: Change mouse tracking, double-click, and scrolling speed on Mac - Apple Support
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu> System Settings, then click Accessibility
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Click Pointer Control on the right, then do any of the following:
• Adjust how fast you must click for your Mac to recognize a double-click: Drag the slider next to “Double-click speed.”
• Adjust how quickly the pointer moves when you scroll: Click Mouse Options, then drag the slider next to “Scroll speed.”
Those would be the only adjustable settings. To clarify, which app or apps are you using to attempt these actions in? This will help narrow it down.
Take care.
Hey there Armin Miewes,
That's great news! Thank you for taking the time to let us know.
Have a good one!
