Connection to USB Hub keeps shutting down
I have my 2017 Macbook Pro connected to an external monitor through a USB C Hub, which is also connected to a webcam, keyboard, etc. Its connected through the lightning port using a USB C cable. I keep the macbook closed.
Everything was working fine until about a month ago. These days during zoom calls, the connection gets lost all the time. My monitor goes blank, the sound stops and then after a few seconds I can hear the sound of the call coming through my closed laptop.
I have to grab my computer and open it back up, at which point everything starts working again, including my monitor. But my video is turned off on the Zoom screen so I have to turn that back on.
It happens enough that these days during zoom calls, I no longer use my whole set up with external monitor, webcam and speaker and just open up my laptop and use that. However the screen is smaller so it's less convenient. I thought it may be the cable, so I bought a new one and it's still happening.
Does anyone know what is wrong? It only seems to happen during Zoom calls. When I'm just working on my computer on my own or watching movies, everything works fine.
