USB KVM Switch not detected by MacBook M2 Pro

Hello there.

I have recently bought a new MacBook Pro with an M2 chip. I'm running PC + combo, so to connect peripherals I heard from other friends running a similar setup to buy a KVM switch (with just 4 USB ports). Unfortunately, the KVM switch isn't recognizable by my MacBook. I have tried already three different devices and all of them are working just fine with the PC and not at all with MacBook. MacBook doesn't see that anything has been plugged into the USB port (checked in the System information).

One device is confirmed that is working with her MacBook M1 Pro running on Monterey macOs

All USB ports have been confirmed to be functional (tested with flash drive and USB-C <-> DisplayPort cable)

Specs:

  • M2 Pro (12 core CPU, 19 core GPU)
  • macOS Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68)

Hello Dr_Condor,

The best source for assuring compatibility of your KVM switch and your Mac would be the manufacturer of that switch itself. We wouldn't be able to guarantee it would work from here in Apple Support Communities. We advise reaching out to them to provide your Mac technical specifications and obtain further clarification on this. This article explains how to obtain specific system information if the support team needs that to help you: Get system information about your Mac - Apple Support.
